Boris has a few issues to contend with now that he's in power but could his stated aim to "unite the country" mean positive news for the hospitality sector?

Learning today that a personal favorite of mine - Taylor St Baristas - has appointed administrators (better use those loyalty card points sooner rather than later), I can't help but worry that the decline in our high streets is ramping up rather than down.

UKHospitality wrote to both Johnson and Hunt during the leadership campaign outlining its proposals for supporting the hospitality sector and high streets across the country.

Chief Executive of UKHospitality Kate Nicholls is hoping that 'a sensible Brexit outcome' eliminating uncertainty together with a wholesale review of the costs that are retracting investment in the industry (business rates in particular) is the answer.

Could Boris and his sunny optimism be the beacon of light that this sector needs in order to survive (and hopefully thrive) or is it just too late?

Off to Taylor Street Baristas now if anyone wants an iced coffee?
